Women's Bone Support (AUST L 473195) provides 290mg of calcium with vitamin D3 and K2, plus Fortibone collagen peptides. Calcium and vitamin D help reduce the risk of osteoporosis in people 50 years and over, when dietary intake is inadequate. Daily Creatine Support is a formulated supplementary sports food — 100% micronised creatine monohydrate at 3g per serve, used alongside resistance training. Hydrate + Replenish is an electrolyte drink; each 7g serve contains 278mg calcium, 227mg sodium, 26mg potassium and 11mg magnesium.
Bone loss is fastest in the first five to seven years after your final period, and muscle declines alongside it. Both respond to what you do now more than to anything you do later.
The Australian numbers
The NHMRC recommended dietary intake for calcium is 1,300mg a day for women 51 and over, up from 1,000mg for women 19 to 50. Vitamin D adequate intake rises from 5 micrograms a day to 10 at 51, and 15 after 70.
A supplement is a top-up
No small daily serve covers 1,300mg of calcium. Treat a supplement as the gap between what you eat and what you need, and count your food serves honestly first.
Training is not optional
Resistance training two to three times a week is the strongest single lever for both bone and muscle. Swimming and cycling are good for you but do not load bone.
Ask about a DXA scan
A bone density scan gives you a number instead of a guess. Medicare eligibility criteria apply, and your GP can advise.
Adults only. Contains sulfites. Always read the label and follow the directions for use. If symptoms persist, talk to your health professional. Vitamins and minerals can only be of assistance if dietary intake is inadequate. Daily Creatine Support is not suitable for children under 15 years of age or pregnant women, and should only be used under medical or dietetic supervision and in conjunction with an appropriate physical training programme.
